Ayyappa is also called Sastavu, Manikandan or Sasta, is a Hindu deity who is the son of Harihara, fused with both Shiva and Vishnu. Ayyappa Swamy is generally depicted in a yogic posture, wearing a jewel around his neck, hence named Manikandan, Literally meaning "With bell around the neck
He is the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati, his brother is Ganesha and his wives are Valli and Deivayanai, he is known by different names like Subramanya, Subramani, Muruga, Shanmuga, Skanda, Karthilkeya, Arumuga and Kumaraswamy.
